hmmmm…wonder why?
While Apple is still far better than most computers – their corporate policy – let’s just say – it sucks!
I have NOT had one good suggestion regarding a good solution – but – time will tell, eh?
colour us all…NOT surprised at all.
For the first time in decades I have not worked at the polls – I have been told by a fairly knowledgeable person that voting does NOT count so why bother is my thought – Come on the Prez? was in Baghdad ??? and Rove is NOT charged – they will do what they want – when they want – and the hell with us. It is difficult to trust anymore and sadness abounds.
They say we are liberals and godless amd bleeding hearts. Gee – I am NOT a liberal – I am NOT a democrat – I am certainly NOT a Republican – and at least I DO have a heart – and does God LOVES me/us – so I am not worried about what they think – whomever the hell they are – KARMA folks – anyone ever heard of that – what goes around comes around – that is what my grammy used to say. To bad that so many people are being hurt and destroyed being in the wake of someone elses KARMA, as it were…

Last December I gifted myself with a new iMac G5 [you wouldn't believe all the things I sold to afford it] – what joy I felt – then…
My friend, Lea, saw my iMac, wanted one of her own on the spot – helped her order it – that day – cut to a few days later – Her iMac arrives – and begins to give her nothing but trouble [hardware problems] – I work with Apple and do a 1,000 things [exaggeration] they wanted me to do – finally they agree to replace it –
Cut to another few days later – a NEW iMac G5 – what oh – NO! – It has a terrible ugly plaid and nothing can be done – I ran the test – yup – it is what we thought – then an iMac tech refuses to replace it – [he states that he will only send new parts and a tech to come to the house – cause I refuse to take it to Albuquerque [don’t drive] and leave it for 3 weeks – the man he was going to send – told us they need to replace the computer so I tell him that we were going to dispute the credit card charge] – then I receive an e-mail from Apple regarding – did the tech help – so I blasted them with them whole drama that took place over the 3 months – said I was going to dispute the credit card charge. Lea called the Credit card company to dispute the charge – they did a conference call with Apple.
Next thing I know a very nice man from Apple in Austin calls me to discuss the matter – finally asks if we would consider an upgrade to an iMac dual crap [oops] – said yes – cut to the next few days – an iMac arrives – so far so good for Lea – guess the 3rd time is the charm in this case.
Now meanwhile back at my place my Optical Drive is going out – WTF is going on?????? Okay so I call the nice guy in Austin – well you don’t have the Apple care – and we can help you if you pay $119.00 for it. I asked them to send me the parts cause they are under warranty and I will pay for the only Mac tech in town that I would trust – oh no it has to be a certified Mac tech – in other words – one that paid over $800.00 a year to be able to order to do their bidding and can order the Mac parts.
Question posed to me:
Why won’t you take the computer to Albuquerque and leave it about 3 weeks to be fixed?
My understanding is now – I paid over $2,000 bloody damn dollars for a computer that is consider old now – and is not working correctly but according to Apple.
I have to pay $119.00 to get someone to come to my house and repair it – I don’t get a choice on who does it.
I don’t have the right to either do it myself or hire my own tech to fix it. They are afraid to have anyone open it up because it is a unique computer. D’uh I bought it but apparently I don’t have the permissions to chose. I AM smart enough to not let just anyone mess with a $2,000 computer – after all that money spent what I have is yet another iMac – the 3rd to muck up in the past six months – conveniently – muck up – since now they have their intel baby and I have their bastard child the G5. Hey – I love my G5 – I want her healthy –
Oh crap I am between a rock and a hard place I am not sure what to do… yet – This post is a free-write – I am sure I am repetitive and not quite articulate – but I am frustrated. As I said I am not ready to make nice over a few things… this just happens to be one.
What is this bull-shit with Apple? Paid over $2,000 for something that I don’t really own? What the hell is that about? More corporate crap????? Can they not come up with a way to protect both the computer and the customer? SOMETHING???!!!!!
What the hell is going on? – So Paul and Heather are getting a divorce – does this mean that it is now open season on Heather? Y’all act like it is – cheap comics are making cracks about her leg being used as a scratching post etc. I am NOT going there. Shame on you if you do!!! 
How much she gets or what the real cause for the divorce is none of our business!!! She has a child and she will see all this crap – is that your goal? Why do we have to lower ourselves to such a level?

The Dixie Chicks make a statement that they are not happy the president is from Texas – well – hell – I am not happy he is from this planet! So the so-called redneck pseudo-republicans country music community with the aid of the BushCheneyRovites set out to destroy them. There were Photo-ops of people with steam-rollers driving over their CD’s – families with children seeing all this and being taught that this was an OKAY activity. How hitler-esque of them – back to nazi-ish germany behavior.
Natalie Maines at first apologised for dis-respecting the office of the president – now she wishes she had been wrong about her feelings – but as we know her fears have been proven right – we all support out troups and they did to – none of us wanted the troops dying and being maimed for corporate-political-bullshit-greed reasons.
We should never fear tho the Country stations and pseudo-americans who made a fortune with convenient patriotic songs – the Chicks are back – whether you like it or not they ARE back and like ALL women of country music – they are strong and beautiful – and they CAN write beautiful music – and they ain’t going nowhere. They will keep loving – singing – growing and respecting and believing in this country and the rights off all – including all of you chauvinists…

For all the folks who are Bush bashing – really – who are you kidding – do you truly think that he is anything more than a figurehead – the unholy – godless trinity – C-R-R – have more power than he. There are folks who don’t even admit they voted for him – some folks are even making fun of him – I would have more respect for them if they admited they are simply mad as hell that did help get him into office or they are disappoimted in this administration – not ridicule apparently is their choice. I am still smarting about the fact that I actually voted for Nixon once. It is not like I voted for the evil idiot princess Ann Coulter – people.

For many things – but her latest bitchy remarks from her book [that should only be sold as liner for the bottoms of litter boxes] took her to the top of the list – “Godless: The Church of Liberalismâ€? states that a group of New Jersey widows whose husbands perished in the World Trade Center act “as if the terrorist attacks happened only to them – I’ve never seen people enjoying their husbands’ deaths so much.â€?
Hillary Clinton stated she found it “unimaginable that anyone in the public eye could launch a vicious, mean-spirited attack on people whom I’ve known over the last four and a half years to be concerned deeply about the safety and security of our country. Perhaps her book should have been called ‘Heartless,’ I know a lot of the widows and family members who lost loved ones on 9/11. They never wanted to be a member of a group that is defined by the tragedy of what happened.â€?
Republican Gov. George Pataki voicing anger and surprise at Coulter’s words. “I was really stunned and I don’t think it’s at all fair or accurate, I have spoken with many, many grieving family members and the hurt is real, the pain is real, the suffering four and a half years later has not lessened to any appreciable degreeâ€?.
Coulter on the Todayâ€? show said that the women used their grief “to make a political point.â€? All this criticism aimed at four New Jersey women whom she dubbed “The Witches of East Brunswick,â€? after the town where two of them live. The women are Kristen Breitweiser, Lorie Van Auken, Mindy Kleinberg and Patty Casazza. They have spent the years since the 2001 terror attacks supporting an independent commission to examine government failures before the attack, and in the 2004 presidential campaign they endorsed Democrat John Kerry. These women, who are still pushing for changes in how the government guards against future attacks stated, “We have been slandered. Contrary to Ms. Coulter’s statements, there was no joy in watching men that we loved burn alive. There was no happiness in telling our children that their fathers were never coming home again. We adored these men and miss them every dayâ€?.
Well gee, Annie, this is America, are you telling me that what you do or say is not to make a political point? Are you saying that if we differ with what you or your fellow idiots say or do – that WE are the ones who do NOT have the right to do disagree. Viva America – I think perhaps you are overcome by the odour of the gas coming from this administration that you are following so closely behind that you are getting a tan right before our eyes! I do believe that one on Annie’s biggest problems is – she has never had a cadaver of her own…
The evils that humans do to one another is unreal – if we do this to women – then all we need men for is their spermatozza – ew, so then if women are not to enjoy a sexual experience – then men shouldn’t either. Take it from them and inseminate the women – jeez that would be stupid and cruel – and as stupid as so-called honour killing –
Speaking of the honour killings – I asked a local man about his feeling about them – as he was born in Egypt – he said we have too because they have disgraced the family – even if the women were attacked and raped by a stranger? – He said we have to – I then asked them why don’t you stand up for the women? Aren’t you men enough to stand up to the man/men who do/did these horrible things? Sufficeth to say we no longer speaking… These awful things are not just people of colour – the people who do these horrors are multi-cultural and various religious factions – When will this cruelty end…?

WHO calls for end to genital cutting

GENEVA — The World Health Organization said Friday that female genital cutting is a form of torture that must be stamped out, even if it is done by trained medical personnel.
The “medicalization” of ritual genital cutting fails to prevent girls from being permanently scarred, threatening their lives when they give birth later and endangering their babies, WHO said in a report.
Genital cutting “is the worst thing that a medical doctor could possibly do,” said Joy Phumaphi, WHO assistant director-general and a former health minister from Botswana. “It is even worse than turning a blind eye, because you are legitimizing violation of a basic human right and violence against an innocent victim.”
There can be no justification for doctors and nurses “to come and supervise the torture,” Phumaphi said.
The practice – called genital mutilation by opponents – is done primarily in parts of sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East. It is usually done on girls under 10. More than 100 million women and girls worldwide are believed to have undergone genital cutting, the U.N. health agency said.
Genital cutting usually involves removal of the clitoris. Those who practice it believe the cutting tames sexual desire and increases a girl’s marriageability. Genital cutting is done by both Muslims and Christians.
An estimated 3 million women and girls undergo genital cutting each year, according to UNICEF.
“When the world is trying to save animals, when the world is trying to save plants, women in Africa are subjected to unnecessary torture in the name of tradition,” said Berhane Ras-Work, president of the non-governmental group IAC, which campaigns against genital cutting. “It is a horrendous practice, it should not be allowed, it should be condemned, it should be stopped.”
An increasing number of girls are being subjected to the practice by trained medical personnel, a UNICEF report said last year. While that may help prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS through the use of cleaner instruments, the WHO said it was opposed to any proposals that would endorse genital cutting.
“It’s the same as attempting murder with a clean knife,” Phumaphi said.
WHO’s study, published in The Lancet medical journal, found that women who have suffered the most serious form of genital cutting have a 70 percent greater chance of hemorrhage after childbirth compared with women who did not undergo the procedure.
In countries where childbirth mortality rates are already high, “this particular process is practically a death sentence,” Phumaphi said.
Children born to women whose genitals have been cut also are at greater risk, the study found. Depending on the severity of the genital cutting, neonatal death rates range from 15 percent to 55 percent higher than babies born to women with intact genitals.
WHO’s study involved more than 28,000 women in six African countries where the practice is common – Burkina Faso, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal and Sudan.
Ras-Work said some countries in Africa were doing better than others in trying to end the practice. She cited Burkina Faso and Senegal as places where attitudes were being changed and genital cutting was declining.
Rowdy was a constant companion to my friend S.Y’s. family for about 17 years. They adopted one another in California – he was believed to be a feral cat – he certainly had the personality of a feral – He was a long haired – all black w/a little bit of white on his front paw – of late he had begaun to have salt and pepper coat.
A few years ago – when I was ‘kitty-sitting’ – all I did was tell him I had to go to work – he jumped off my tummy – with a loud MEEEOOOWWW!!! leaving a scar that I carry to this day. My Rowdy scar. He often tried to look and be a ‘devil’ cat – he didn’t carry it off very well though.
He passed on yesterday – and now I am sure he is running around heaven with his ole pal Buster. No more pain – just a young silly kitten again. Bye – bye – Rowdy -[little man] we are all going to miss your silliness. Meeeeooooowwww! meow…
